Author's BioMegan Emily was born on the island of Guam in the western Pacific Ocean to Navy parents. She spent the first two and a half years of her life in Yokohama, Japan. She then moved to North Platt, Nebraska and then to Fergus Falls, Minnesota until she left for college in 1995, heading south to Texas. In 1997 she married Babur "Rio" Asad; historian, soccer analyst and educator. After getting married, the Asads moved to Kansas in 1997; San Antonio, Texas in 1998; Tampa, Florida in 1999; Asuncion, Paraguay in 2004; and back to Tampa, Florida in 2006. Writing is a passion that Emily acquired back in her high school days, but which she began perfecting when she had already moved to Florida. This prolific writer has already written ten full novels, nine short plays and several poems. Zenia Isabel arrived in March of 2004 to change Rio and Emily's life forever. The brown-haired girl has become an additional inspiration in Emily's writing. During her two-year stay in Paraguay, Emily branched off into a new literary direction: drama. After finding that the American school she was teaching at did not possess much in the way of drama curriculum, she decided to remedy the situation by penning nine plays herself. One of these plays, A Lady of Loyalty, became a two-hour production performed on two consecutive nights at the Arlequin Theatre in Asuncion, Paraguay. Emily's little plays were in such high demand that she was able to present many of them together in the first-ever Renaissance Festival in Paraguay, which she also produced and directed. The most popular was Picknose the Pirate, a comedy, and The Fairy's Curse, both one-act shorts. Emily has many hobbies which include traveling, playing chess, and baking bread from scratch. She speaks Spanish fluently as well as phrases in Portuguese, Japanese, German, and French. Having lived in the US as well as Japan and Paraguay, she has recently been to Brazil, Panama, Argentina, Bolivia, Israel, Canada, and Mexico.
She holds a Bachelors degree in English Education from the University of South Florida in
Tampa, Florida. She is also an active member of the Tampa Writer's Alliance. |
