Poetry
Megan Emily was published as a poet long before her books were. Her poem A Plea for Youth Invincible will be featured in the book The Best Poets and Poems of 2002 from Poetry.com coming this fall.
Here is a sampling of her work...
True Independence
When I am rich and have
A tiny cottage of my own,
I'll buy a footstool to stand upon
to complete my cozy home.
Since I am short and cannot reach
The items on a shelf,
I must rely on other folks
Instead of on myself.
A footstool's independence.
A footstool is the key.
I'll paint it green with yellow trim,
And then I will be free...
and THEY will envy ME.

Denial
Oh! To live in my dream world,
Where events can be changed
According to my mood
And adventures abound, and people
are wise. I can control
the outcome while yet I sleep.
But no. Society's rules. Clanging alarm
Rips me from my repose
And hurls me to the wolves
Who wait for me eagerly.
But I am more powerful.
I can return - any time -
To live in my dream world
Where events can be changed
According to my mood.
